The Las Vegas Calendar Decides When Your Listing Has to Be Ready
Demand in this valley does not drift in gently. It arrives, and whoever is holding the top three spots that week takes the quarter.
Four Quarters, and None of Them Alike
Most cities have seasons that nudge demand. Clark County has seasons that replace it. A 68 degree Tuesday in March and a 113 degree Tuesday in July are not two versions of the same HVAC company, they are two businesses wearing the same shirt. A roofer can bill more in three monsoon weeks than in the previous five months. Pest control sits quiet until the first warm nights send scorpions across a patio in Mountain's Edge.
Underneath that volume sits a slower number: your position among the three map results Google actually displays. Call volume swings in days. Position moves over weeks. Owners who treat them as one number buy ranking work in the month it can no longer help them.
What Each Stretch of the Year Does to the Phone
The valley year splits into four uneven stretches, and they do not line up with anybody's fiscal calendar.
- ▸January to March: mild weather, the snowbird population near its peak, and the lowest search volume of the year for anything weather driven. Remodelers, pool builders, dentists, and med spas do fine. It is also the safest window to touch a Google profile.
- ▸April to June: the turn. Tune-ups, irrigation, pool openings, and pest calls climb week over week. By the second week of June, anything cooling related stops being negotiable.
- ▸July to September: peak heat plus monsoon cells. Truck hours, not lead count, become the constraint, and reviews are the easiest you will ever ask for.
- ▸October to December: the seasonal population climbs back, the convention calendar runs heavy, and holiday hours start distorting your profile. Volume for summer trades falls off a shelf.
Whose Peak Lands When
Valley averages are useless to any single owner. Your calendar depends on your trade, and your start date depends on your calendar.
- ▸HVAC: builds from April, peaks July and August, carries a September tail of monsoon debris and coil damage. Position needs to be set by March.
- ▸Roofing: the emergency wave rides the monsoon cells from July into September, and insurance-driven searching lags the storm by weeks, not days.
- ▸Plumbing: the steadiest trade here. Hard water keeps a repair floor under the whole year, with water heater and slab leak spikes after temperature swings.
- ▸Landscaping: two peaks, spring irrigation and fall overseed. July is dead: nobody wants a crew in the yard at 110.
- ▸Pest control: scorpions, ants, and roaches move with sustained warm nights, April through October.
- ▸Pool builders: sales in winter, construction in the shoulder months, then a summer wall of service calls.
- ▸Injury and criminal defense: tied to traffic volume, the convention calendar, and holiday weekends on the 15.
- ▸Dentists, chiropractors, med spas: January intent, a year-end rush to spend insurance benefits, and a summer soft patch when families travel.
Fewer Calls Does Not Mean a Lower Position
Every October we hear the same sentence from HVAC and pest owners: something broke, the phone stopped. Usually nothing broke. Volume fell by half and the position never moved an inch. Fewer people looking feels exactly like losing a seat.
The reverse happens too, and it costs more. Calls hold steady through May because demand is climbing, while your position quietly slipped two spots because a competitor spent the spring building. The rising volume hides the loss until July, when you needed the seat you no longer have.
So track them separately. Volume is what your phone system tells you. Position is what a search returns from a dozen scattered points around the valley, never from the chair you are sitting in. Watch both and October stops being alarming, May stops being falsely reassuring.
Count Back Twelve Weeks From the Month That Pays You
Ranking work does not deliver on the day you buy it. Rebuilding a profile, publishing pages, and generating a run of fresh reviews take weeks to settle into a position. Twelve weeks is our working number, and our guarantee runs on the same clock: a top three seat by week twelve or the work costs you nothing.
Pick the month your business actually makes its money, count back twelve weeks, and that is your start date. An HVAC company aiming at July starts in April at the very latest, and March is better. A roofer aiming at the first serious monsoon cell starts in April. A pool builder aiming at January signings starts in October. Pest control aiming at April starts in January.
Starting late is not worthless, it is a different purchase. A June start buys you the back half of this season plus all of next season. That trade is often worth making. Believing a June start buys you July is not.
Spend the Slow Quarter Building the Busy One
The habit that costs valley companies the most is going dark in the off season: spending hard in June, disappearing in November, then wondering why the position has to be rebuilt every spring. A good share of the turnover in these results is simply owners taking turns abandoning them.
Slow months are where the durable work happens. Categories and service areas get fixed without a heat wave riding on the outcome. Reviews come from customers who are not in a crisis and write longer ones. The crew has time to photograph finished jobs.
One reading settles the start date argument. It reports where your listing sits in each submarket as of today, then counts backward from the month you actually have to be ready by. Two other things come out of that same call: whether the category is winnable in the window you have left, and whether somebody in your trade already holds your patch of the valley. Both answers arrive before an invoice does. (702) 291-9580.

Questions we get asked
My phone died in October. Did I lose my Map Pack position?
Probably not. Demand for the summer trades falls hard once overnight lows drop, and the same three listings that were slammed in August will sit quiet in October without moving. Check your position from a few points around the valley before you change anything. If you still hold the seats, the calendar did this, not your listing.
How early does an AC company here have to start?
March, and February is better. Twelve weeks from a March start lands you in the seats before the first sustained run over 105, which is the week the whole year gets decided. A June start still helps the September tail and sets up next summer, but nothing bought in June is going to be holding a seat for July.
Do snowbirds actually change my lead volume?
For some trades, noticeably. The seasonal population builds through the fall and thins out by late spring, which lifts winter demand for medical, dental, home repair, and auto services in the pockets of the valley where seasonal residents concentrate, including Sun City communities and parts of Henderson. It also means a share of your winter customers are not here in July to leave you a review, so ask while they are still in town.
Does the convention calendar matter if I do not serve tourists?
Less than people think for home services, more than you would guess for anything near the resort corridor. Big weeks add traffic, add rideshare volume, and add accidents, which moves work for auto repair, injury attorneys, and criminal defense. If your customers are homeowners in Summerlin or Aliante, ignore it and watch the weather instead.
Should I pause the work during my slow season to save money?
That is the single most expensive habit in this valley. Positions are cheapest to hold and most expensive to recover. Going dark from October to April hands your competitors a clean run at the seats you want in June, and you start the busy season climbing instead of defending.
Is there a month where nothing I do makes any difference?
No, but there are months where the effect is invisible until later. February work does not produce February calls for an AC company. It produces June calls. Judge off-season work by where your position sits when the season turns, not by the phone log that same week.
